The dress

No comments:

When he first started talking about getting married, I got all giddy and wedding crazy.
A friend of mine, and I happened to be near a bridal consignment shop, so we stopped in.
I tried on a couple dresses, and fell in love with this one.
Over the last year or so, I've randomly stopped in at that same bridal shop,
and the dress has still been there.

Last month my mom and I started dress shopping,
and of course, back to the consignment store we went.
(After a couple stops at David's bridal)
and my dress was still there.

I tried it on and just kept staring at it.
I wanted to look more, to be sure,
even though I knew this was the one.

The consultant was very blunt in telling me,
"Look, I've seen you in here at least three times trying on this dress over the last year,"

"Probably five, if we're being honest." I interuppted.

"Exactly," she said, "This dress is tried on at least every other day.
It's one of three tea-length dresses we have in the store, and that's a very popular style.
There is a reason the dress is still here.
It's your dress."

And I turned to look in the mirror again,
and smiled.
It was my dress.
And I marched right over to put it on layaway.

And it will be perfect.
As soon as I add the corset back
and possibly a sweetheart neckline.
